Fruit and Nut Ladoos

Ingredients

1. Dates

about 10

3. Pistachios

1 handful

5. Desiccated Coconut 

1/2 - 1 cup 

2. Sesame Seeds

1/2 cup - 1 cup

4. Ghee

1 dollop

6. Boiling Water

1/4 cup

Ayurvedic Information

A nourishing snack or breakfast with chai, these dried fruit and nut laddoos are highly nutritious energy balls packed with strengthening and fortifying ingredients like dates and nuts. Dates are considered sattvic or pure as are nuts and ghee, making this treat a gift to both body and mind, especially for vāta and pitta type of depletion. In excess, as they are sweet and building in nature, they will be aggravating for Kapha. 

Method of Preparation

In a side pan, dry roast sesame seeds until golden.

Separately in ghee, toast cashews, pistachios, and nuts of choice.

Add deseeded dates into the pan and a handful of dried coconut.

Add boiling water and smash dates until sticky (optionally adding raisins)

Dribble in a some of the sesame seeds

Remove the mixture and set aside to cool

Form into little palm sized balls and roll in remaining sesame seeds or coconut
